Mining major Vedanta Ltd's board on Monday declared a dividend of Rs 8.5 per share amounting to Rs 3,324 crore. The latest dividend will enable the Mumbai-headquartered private sector company to reduce the debt owed by its London-based parent Vedanta Resources. The announcement makes this Vedanta Ltd's fourth dividend so far this financial year.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will transfer Rs 87,416 crore as dividend to Government of India for the accounting year 2022-23, according to an official statement. The RBI board approved the transfer of surplus in its meeting on May 19.
